LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Understand ADHD

  • Describe the DSM-5 criteria and presentations of ADHD.
  • Explain why accurate diagnosis requires multiple settings and functional impairment.
  • Recognise the genetic, environmental, and neurological factors contributing to ADHD.

2. Recognise the Impact of ADHD

  • Identify the academic, social, and emotional challenges faced by individuals with ADHD.
  • Explain how differences in brain structure, neurotransmitters, and connectivity relate to symptoms.

3. Apply Intervention Strategies

  • Outline the multimodal approach (medication, behavioural interventions, educational support).
  • Use behavioural tools (token economies, self-regulation, organisation skills training).
  • Suggest classroom accommodations that support learners with ADHD.

This practical, skills-based course designed to equip participants with the knowledge and strategies to support learners with diverse needs in inclusive education settings. Through modules on understanding barriers to learning, implementing Individual Support Plans, collaborating with teachers and support teams, and adapting the curriculum, participants will learn how to foster learner participation, progress, and well-being. This course is ideal for aspiring or practising facilitators who want to make a meaningful impact in mainstream classrooms.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Understand the role of a facilitator – explain the key roles, responsibilities, and attributes of an effective learner facilitator.
  2. Facilitate learning actively – use participatory methodologies to engage learners in the learning process.
  3. Create the right environment – design and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  4. Apply adult learning principles – adapt facilitation techniques to suit the needs and experiences of adult learners.

Through engaging video lessons, downloadable resources, and practical activities, participants will learn to identify barriers to learning, complete SIAS Forms 1–5, develop Individual Support Plans, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders. Flexible, self-paced modules ensure you can build your skills and implement SIAS procedures at your own pace, with real-world tools ready for immediate use.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  1. Understand SIAS – explain the purpose, principles, and value of the SIAS (Screening, Identification, Assessment and Support) Policy in inclusive education.
  2. Apply SIAS procedures – use the steps of screening, identification, assessment, and support to assist learners experiencing barriers to learning.
  3. Differentiate support needs – distinguish between low, moderate, and high levels of support and know how to respond appropriately.
  4. Know the roles of support structures – describe the responsibilities of classroom teachers, SBST, and DBST in the SIAS process.
  5. Use SIAS tools effectively – complete and interpret SIAS Forms 1–5 to support learners meaningfully.
  6. Collaborate with stakeholders – work with parents, therapists, and other professionals to strengthen learner support.
  7. Develop Individual Support Plans (ISP) – design, implement, and monitor ISPs to match learner needs and track progress.
